Kaylene's First Bus Ride
More than a year ago, one of the very few words Kaylene learned to say was "bus". She always pointed them out everywhere we went. As her language improved, she would start to say that she wanted to go on the bus and I kept saying "We'll go on a bus someday, I promise". Well, that day finally came. My parents have been here visiting because of the new arrival of baby Peter, so I thought it was the perfect

So sad, no more binky's
Breaks my heart. I know every kid has difficulties with different things. Kaylene had no problems at all with no more bottles. But tonight we took away her biggest "vise", the pacifier (or as we call it, the binky). We put her to bed and after reading time and prayers, she politely asked "binky" and I had to break the news to her that there wouldn't be anymore "binky's" and immediately she was in tears.
Kaylene the Navigator
Everyday with Kaylene is something new. Just the other day while I was running some errands, we were on Interstate-5 and we were passing the exit that we usually take to go to the park, instantly she started crying "that way, that way" and pointing at the exit as we passed it. Later that day as we were driving home, Jen was craving Taco Bell (she's pregnant you know!) and we passed the exit we usually

This week, we have had a few changes to the Wharff household. We are sad to say that we have lost a member of our family team...Jen's car, the black Honda Accord EX ('04) was lost in a car accident that took place on Tuesday afternoon around 5:15. It ended up that Jen and Kaylene were involved in a three car pile-up on 78th street, (Right outside of Carol's Corner Cafe, Mom). The police and EMT's arrived
Fun with Pop Rocks
Just the other day I was picking up some treats for Jen and I for a movie and I saw Pop Rocks on the shelf. Immediately an idea came into my head to film Kaylene eating her first Pop Rocks. So we did and it was pretty funny, take a look at the video above.
Our New Garden
My parents have been visiting with us for the last couple weeks. I mentioned to my Dad that Jen and I were thinking about planting a garden. When I told him this, he got all excited since gardening is one of his more favorite things to do. So we had several discussions and planning for where and how big the garden box would be. Since my Dad spent most of his career as a construction worker, he really
Easter 2009
This Easter was truly Kaylene's first time to enjoy all the fun the Easter Bunny brings. Firstly, the day before Easter, we all colored eggs and Kaylene was very intrigued with the idea of coloring and dying eggs. One particular egg she dropped into the dye about 6-8 inches up and it made a big splash, she was very surprised and we quickly cleaned up the mess (this is the reason we had her just in
Kaylene Builds a Bear
Kaylene got a Build a Bear Workshop gift certificate from Grandma and Grandpa Wharff for her 2nd birthday. So we finally got a chance to go to the mall and have Kaylene build her very own teddy bear. We decided it would be fun to film this so Grandma and Grandpa (and everyone else) could watch this fun bear building event! Enjoy.
Jen is a Wharff.net Blogger. Hooray!
After this whole "Twitter" incident, Jen was actually posting tweets, however she agreed with me that it was somewhat a waste of time and expressed interest in actually posting blog entries. So I've created an account for her to post blog entries to Wharff.net. This is "technically" her first post, but posted by me (Paul). You should now be able to see who the "Author" of the post is. Look to the future
Kaylene finally triumphs over the couch
She's been working on it for months and today Kaylene was finally victorious over climbing onto the couch. Soon she'll be climbing the book shelves and jumping out of the bath tub! We'll be keeping an eye on her.
Kaylene's First Carousel Ride
Today we took Kaylene to the mall for her very first Carousel ride. How did she like it? Well from what I've heard... her reaction was quite typical: scared! She was doing fine until the ride actually started to move and then she started to cry something fierce, but fortunately for her it was over pretty quickly. Oh well, at least we got pictures and video to document the event!
First Step Pictures
Pictures of Kaylene's first steps are now online. If you haven't found out already and watched the video, Kaylene took her first steps on Saturday. So check out them pics!
Kaylene's First Steps
Kaylene has slowly been showing signs of walking lately. Usually she's has been taking daring steps from one couch to the other. So we decided to bust out the camera and see if should would dare to try and walk. Check out the video to find out!
Kaylene's First Halloween
This Halloween was Kaylene's first. Jen found a very cute outfit of a kitty kat! The night before we went to the annual Halloween bash at the church where all the kids were dressed up and got to "trunk" or treat. Yes I said trunk, it's where all the kids at the church get to go from each car, truck or SUV trunks and get treats. At the same time was the Chili cook-off. I got to try several kinds of
Kaylene Says Her First Word!
At 8:40 PM today, Kaylene said her very first word: "Da-Dee". Here's how it happened: Kaylene was sitting on Mommy's lap and Jen pointed to me and said while Kaylene was looking at me: "Is that your Daddy?" and she immediately responded with "Da-Dee". She continued to say it 4 more times, so I grabbed the camera and of-course she was distracted by the camcorder that she didn't say it again. Anyway,
Kaylene's First Giggles
We were fortunate enough to actually capture Kaylene's first giggles on film. It's a good thing I had the day off! ;)
Jen's first Mother's Day
I wanted to do something special for Jen this Mother's Day since of-course this is her very first "official" one. Keeping in mind that the moolah situation hasn't been the greatest lately, I tried to use what's left in my brain and mainly in my heart to give her a Mother's Day that would be a memorable one. So instead of getting her a card, I wrote her a letter telling her how important she is to me
Kaylene's First Day at the Park
They built a new park by my parents house in Newman and it is very nice and large. We decided that after the birthday party we would go play, hang out and hit a couple balls at the park. This is Kaylene's very first time at a park and although she won't remember it, we got plenty of pictures to record this fun moment of hers. Be sure to check out the cool motion shots I got of Jo-Jo at bat (ball
Our First Snow
Our very first snow in the 'Couv (short for Vancouver). Mom and Dad happened to be there to share this first moment with us. Ofcourse we had seen AND been in snow before, but it was fun to see here for the first time.
