Peter and Molly's Blessing
Just as we did Kaylene's blessing, we did Peter's blessing on a Saturday so that more of my family and Jen's family could be there. We also did my brother's daughter Molly at the same time, since they had been waiting for me to be there as well and since we just moved back to California, it was perfect timing. Molly went first and cried throughout much of the blessing. Then Peter and guess what? He

5 Days Old
Peter is now 5 days old and has met or beaten all the numbers by which they gauge a babies health, which ultimately will determine when he goes home. He had a hearing test today and past with flying colors. He's never had to undergo any special meds or even no lights for jaundice. We are so happy with his progress and hope to have him home soon. Here are pictures of him at 5 days old, enjoy!

Peter Paul Wharff arrives into this world February 22, 2010 (four 2's in his b-day 2/22/2010) at 7:23 pm, weighing in at 4 pounds 14 ounces and 17 inches long. There's a longer story regarding how Peter came into our life which I will post later, but for now here are some more pictures.
Kaylene Visits a Fire Station
Kaylene has always been amazed and has loved fire trucks and fireman. So when Jen and I found out that the Church was having an activity (for kids that aren't in school yet) to visit a Fire Station, we knew we had to take Kaylene. And boy did she love it. We had been telling her and as soon as we entered the fire station garage, she gave out a really big "WOW" with a smile on her face that couldn't
New Years 2010
We spent New Years at Jennifer's parents cabin, up by Yosemite. Kaylene particularly enjoyed herself amongst all the nature. Everyday we would go outside for a walk and on one particular walk, a dog kept following us around. We found out his name is "Buddy" and the owner told us that he loves to be part of everyones business, yet Kaylene really loved and even looked forward to having him with us on
Christmas 2009
We had a wonderful Christmas this year with all of our family. Kaylene got her very first bicycle from Santa and was super excited. This was our first year at Sherry's home for Christmas. It was also special because Molly had arrived early and we all got to get our fair share of snuggles with this cute little tot! Enjoy the pictures.
Christmas Tree Hunting
One of the main reasons for our trip back to California was to participate in a big Wharff family tradition that has taken place at the "Black Road" tree farm for many years: Christmas Tree Hunting! This year was particularly cold, but we all had a lot of fun searching for trees. Since we still live in WA, we didn't get a tree, but Kaylene still ran everywhere and pointing at lots of "Christmas Trees".
Family Pics
One of Kaylene's friends decided to have a full blown formal "tea party" (all herbal teas) with fancy dress and all. So I decided to take some family pics beforehand. Which is your favorite?
Halloween 2009
This year Kaylene was (as Kaylene puts it) a "Bumble Bee Princess". Her cousin Amanda was nice enough to give her this costume from her last Halloween. Hours before trick or treating, I asked Kaylene "are you ready for your Halloween costume?" and immediately she said "no costume, no costume". However as soon as she saw WHAT a costume really is, she was super super excited and couldn't wait to get
Library and Park
Kaylene loves books, just like her Mommy, but the funny thing is that we had never taken her to the Library and probably on the account that we practically have one in our house already (from Jen's teaching). So we finally took the trip to the public library and Kaylene just loved it! She immediately fit in and had the problem of too much to look at. She would grab a book and quickly look at it and
So sad, no more binky's
Breaks my heart. I know every kid has difficulties with different things. Kaylene had no problems at all with no more bottles. But tonight we took away her biggest "vise", the pacifier (or as we call it, the binky). We put her to bed and after reading time and prayers, she politely asked "binky" and I had to break the news to her that there wouldn't be anymore "binky's" and immediately she was in tears.

Currently measuring 14 weeks!I busted out my iPhone to do some video and immediately the nurse said that I couldn't because of "legal reasons". That always makes me sick, that at times like this, a joyous occasion, because of others bad choices, we are punished. Oh well! At lease we got pictures afterward. What was really cool is that this baby was REALLY REALLY moving around a lot and liked to extend
Labor day 2009
Rod and Kathy invited us to their home to celebrate Labor Day. It was really fun because Rod created a nice bonfire in his fire pit in the backyard. We had lots of wonderful food to eat and even got to roast hot dogs over the fire! Kaylene had a blast because she had a little friend to play with. They would run all over the place, throw rocks in the creek over the bridge and play with the hammock and
It's been quiet lately
Lots of things have been happening lately and I hope to get back on the social bandwagon so y'all know what's going on. I found a way to tie all of my favorite services like facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, blogger, friendfeed and tumblr into a single easy to use interface. Should free up lots of time and make everything I do available to all my sites. And best thing yet, I can do all of it from

This week, we have had a few changes to the Wharff household. We are sad to say that we have lost a member of our family team...Jen's car, the black Honda Accord EX ('04) was lost in a car accident that took place on Tuesday afternoon around 5:15. It ended up that Jen and Kaylene were involved in a three car pile-up on 78th street, (Right outside of Carol's Corner Cafe, Mom). The police and EMT's arrived
Garden Progress - Part 2
Our garden continues to flourish and grow like crazy. Some of the vegetables we couldn't eat fast enough, like the radishes. The good news is a lot of our vegetables are getting ready to be harvested, such as the squash, bell peppers, tomatoes, broccoli and cauliflower. We already have started to harvest some snap pees and they are delicious. Being first time gardeners, we're still learning and adapting

We had the wonderful opportunity to go to Cody's graduation last night. I say "opportunity" because we're fortunate enough to live so close. Jen's sister flew up and her parents drove up for this wondrous occasion. I was sneaky enough to get up close in the "restricted" area down by all the grads. I don't think anyone ever gave me a hassle because I looked like a hired photographer and did a pretty
In Memory of Tandy Jane Childs
It has been one whole year since Tandy left us. I wanted to take this moment to remember how such a wonderful person she really was and should really say: how wonderful a person she still is! I love this photo of her, Kaylene and I. On the day she passed, Wharff.net had received the most traffic it had ever experienced, with over 38 people commenting about her. It's really nice to look back and read
Garden Progress
Here are some updated pictures of the progress of our new garden. Enjoy!
Our New Garden
My parents have been visiting with us for the last couple weeks. I mentioned to my Dad that Jen and I were thinking about planting a garden. When I told him this, he got all excited since gardening is one of his more favorite things to do. So we had several discussions and planning for where and how big the garden box would be. Since my Dad spent most of his career as a construction worker, he really
Easter Hunt
As promised, here is the video from this Easter. As you'll see in the video, Kaylene starts out slow and then really gets the hang of it. Also, I've now shown this video to Kaylene and she loves it and keeps having me repeat it over and over and over!!! Enjoy.
Easter 2009
This Easter was truly Kaylene's first time to enjoy all the fun the Easter Bunny brings. Firstly, the day before Easter, we all colored eggs and Kaylene was very intrigued with the idea of coloring and dying eggs. One particular egg she dropped into the dye about 6-8 inches up and it made a big splash, she was very surprised and we quickly cleaned up the mess (this is the reason we had her just in
Just Happy
Not much happening in these photos, just hanging out and enjoying some time with Mama and Dada. She also got a bubble machine from her Maminou and Papa (Jen's parents) and loves to play with the bubbles.
Our Families
One really super cool feature of the new iPhoto is a feature called faces. Faces automatically scans all your photos and uses facial recognition to identify who those people are in all your photos. This lends to unlimited nifty things you can now do with your photos, such as make a slideshow with only photos that have Jen, Paul and Kaylene in them or make a photo album online of all the families in
Christmas 2008
As usual Christmas was chaotic, yet wonderful (how that makes sense, I don't know). We got a ton of gifts, especially Kaylene. It's a good thing we packed lightly and hadn't reached our max number of items for the flight back. I guess the biggest highlights were, Tony got Nancy a under water scubba scooter (not sure what there called) and she was shocked! Also, Nancy got Sherry's kids special backstage

Wow.... where do I begin. Thanksgiving this year was full of excitement to say the least! We started our Thanksgiving by visiting our friends the Tollers in Tracy, CA. They were very happy to see us and enjoyed a wonderful pizza dinner with Marietta, John and family. Kaylene loved playing with their kids. A couple days later we spent Thanksgiving day at Sherry's house and let me just tell you... the
Kaylene's 2nd Birthday
This year we did a little bit more for Kaylene's birthday than we had the year before, she's starting to remember things now! Jen had just gotten home from the hospital so we didn't have too much time for planning, but all of Kaylene's neighborhood friends attended. We decorated the downstairs while Kaylene was taking her daily nap and when she awoke, she was sooo surprised by all the balloons and
Just Hanging Out
Here are some random pictures of Kaylene just hanging out around the house. I especially like the one above. Here she is so intently watching "Blue's Clues" that you can even seen "Steve" reflected in her eyes! Blue's clues is for sure her most favorite show so far. Make sure to check out the rest of the cute pics of her.
Multnomah Falls 2008
I've blogged about Multnomah Falls in the past and won't go over how wonderful of a place it is, but since some of my family had not been there, we all bunched up into the van and headed for the falls. Last time we were there several of us didn't make it to the top of the falls, so we re-commited ourselves and hiked all the way straight up to the top. All in all, it was tons of fun, mainly because
4th of July was Explosive, Really!
Ok, let me put it this way... Nancy, Sherry, Tony and I bought a lot of fireworks, BUT... my cousin Jon bought more fireworks than all of us combined! We had all sorts of fireworks, small, medium, large and super large (mortars, you know like the ones you see on TV). Well, the whole evening was going just fine until... my friend Jessica accidently mistaken a mortar for a fountain and lit it on the
She got her wish, my Great Grandma graduates at 106 years old
My Great Grandma (Grandma "B" as we all call her) passed away this morning at a whopping 106 years of age. She used to question why she was still alive. "What did I do wrong", she would say. Well she finally got her wish. I was curious to see how that would compare to others and found out the oldest woman ever was 122 years old. I never had the chance to spend a lot of time with her, but she will be
Mount St. Helens
One of the big events I was really looking forward to sharing with my family when they visited was to go to Johnston Ridge Observatory, which is the closest you can get to Mount St. Helens by car. We were fortunate enough for a member of our church to let us borrow their van for the trip, which made the whole experience that much easier and that much funner (yes, I said funner)! The only bad part of
Clackamas Aquatic Park
We never had been to this water park in Clackamas before, so when my family was visiting for the 4th of July, we all decided to give it a try. Well we all had tons of fun. There's was something for everyone: water slides, a wave pool (of which Kaylene loved!), a lap pool, a diving board, a kids area and a toddler area. We got some good fun pics, so please check them out.
Beloved Daughter, Mother, Sister and Friend
We have some very sad news to report today. Our beloved, fun loving, sweet Tandy left us this morning, surrounded by loving family and friends. Her passing was calm and peaceful, and she did not seem to be in any discomfort whatsoever. She passed on at 8:47 a.m. this morning due to the fact that her kidneys had quit functioning, her liver had really never work sufficiently and she had developed pneumonia.
Kaylene is 18 Months
Not to take away from the seriousness of the situation with Tandy, but today Kaylene is 18 months old! Besides I know Tandy would want me to publish this anyway! Today she enjoyed playing in our backyard in the grass (she use to be afraid of the grass) and I had the opportunity to snap some cute shots of KK. It truly has been the most amazing, life changing and craziest 18 months of my life. I can
Special Prayers Needed Please!!!
Hello All,I really need to ask a special favor. My sister Tandy Osborn is in the ICU in critical condition with triple organ failure. If anyone can please keep her in your prayers that she will not only get well, but fight to get well for herself. Thank you.
A Snowy Day in April
I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked outside and practically saw a blizzard outside. It was snowing so hard that I couldn't see the houses down the street. It only last maybe 30 minutes and then about an hour later, the sun came out and it was almost warm, so much so that all the streets started to get all steamy. Talk about global warming or can you say "the last days" 10 times really quick? It
Kaylene finally triumphs over the couch
She's been working on it for months and today Kaylene was finally victorious over climbing onto the couch. Soon she'll be climbing the book shelves and jumping out of the bath tub! We'll be keeping an eye on her.
A Day at the Park
Today was amazingly beuatiful weather here in the Northwest. Jen thought that since Kaylene is a little older now and can walk and understand things more now, that we should take her to the park. What can I say but a "pictures says a thousand words". You can see how much she loved it. This wasn't her first time to the park (that was in Newman almost a year ago), but was her first time in a swing.

One day when I called my sister Nancy, I told her that I would be coming down to the bay area for work and was wondering if anything special was going on? She reminded me that not only was it my parents anniversary, but it was there 40th. I was pretty excited that my trip coincided with that special day. So all of us siblings chipped in on a photo album with a special "Happy 40th Anniversary, Always
Jo Jo's Baseball Game
As a "cover" to my parents 40th wedding anniversary, we told my parents they needed to travel to the bay area for Jo Jo's baseball game. Joey is one of the coaches and Jo Jo plays 3 base mostly, however he did play one inning as Pitcher, in which he did a very great job. He also did well up to bat with an RBI during one of the innings. I got a lot of great photos, especially several where you can see
Nancy |||amp; Heather's Birthday
While I was doing my routine work out of the San Jose office, over the weekend Jen, Kaylene and I had the opportunity to enjoy celebrating Nancy and Heather's birthday. Everyone was excited to see Kaylene and notice how much she's changed (walking mostly). The weather was perfect and we all had a great time outside eating Tony's famous carne asada tacos and opening presents. My mom even got Jen a present
Kaylene's First Carousel Ride
Today we took Kaylene to the mall for her very first Carousel ride. How did she like it? Well from what I've heard... her reaction was quite typical: scared! She was doing fine until the ride actually started to move and then she started to cry something fierce, but fortunately for her it was over pretty quickly. Oh well, at least we got pictures and video to document the event!
First Step Pictures
Pictures of Kaylene's first steps are now online. If you haven't found out already and watched the video, Kaylene took her first steps on Saturday. So check out them pics!
Kaylene's First Steps
Kaylene has slowly been showing signs of walking lately. Usually she's has been taking daring steps from one couch to the other. So we decided to bust out the camera and see if should would dare to try and walk. Check out the video to find out!
Kaylene Conquers the Stairs!!!
Rather than keep Kaylene away from the apparent dangers of the stairs, over the past weeks I've been slowly helping and supervising her play on the stairs. At first, she could only lean on the first step and then slowly she would make her way up the first or second step, but she didn't quite have it down. Most of the time she would just lose her balance and start to fall. Ofcourse I was there to catch
Christmas 2007
Christmas this year was quite enjoyable, mainly just because I got to be with family. We got to visit with both sides of the family. Besides enjoying all the Christmas lights as talked about in my previous post, here are a couple highlights this year. Since we all stayed local this year, it was pretty easy to see everyone. Tony tricked just about everyone into thinking that he had to work on Christmas
Christmas Lights 2007
I was glad that this year we spent some time looking at lights and visiting fun Christmas themed places. It brought back memories of Christmas in the Park in San Jose. One the streets we visited had was a court of houses and every single house was decorated to the extreme, but what really made this court special was a 10 foot long train that rode upon tracks above (YES above) each and every houses

We missed Thanksgiving last year because Kaylene had just arrived via FedEx from the heavens up above, but this year we were blessed enough to enjoy it with both of our families. Thanksgiving with my family was pretty typical of fun, happy times mixed with hecticness. We were also fortunate enough to have my Aunt Pat and Uncle Marty with us and as always it was good to have my Grandma and Grandpa there.
Kaylene's 1st Birthday!!!
The picture above was taken exactly at 3:31 PM. Why the exact timing? Well, this, made her exactly 1 year old, down to the minute! Kaylene Jennifer Wharff was welcomed into this world exactly one year ago today. I cannot believe how fast the time has flown! It seems like it was just yesterday that we found out that we were pregnant, and expecting our little miracle! Little she was, weighing in at only
Doug |||amp; Dylan Visit!
We had the great pleasure of having Doug & Dylan visit us. Although their trip was short, it was good to catch up on the "good ol' times"! Check out the pics.
Kaylene Says Her First Word!
At 8:40 PM today, Kaylene said her very first word: "Da-Dee". Here's how it happened: Kaylene was sitting on Mommy's lap and Jen pointed to me and said while Kaylene was looking at me: "Is that your Daddy?" and she immediately responded with "Da-Dee". She continued to say it 4 more times, so I grabbed the camera and of-course she was distracted by the camcorder that she didn't say it again. Anyway,
Where are Wharffs in the world?
As time has passed while hosting Wharff.net, I have received several emails from Wharffs around the world. One of them is a lawyer in Australia, another named Christina Wharff in Arizona informed me that her Grandfather, Charles Wharff, was mayor of Yountville, California for many years. Wow, sooo cool, my Grandpa is named Charles as well (evidently there are many Charles' in our Genealogy). And more
Alyssa's off to Dixie College
Wow, I cannot believe it, I just can't believe... can I say it one more time? I can't believe it! Believe WHAT?!?! I can't believe that Alyssa is already off to college. It seems like yesterday that she was "knee high to a ropes bud"! Anyway, make sure to check out her new blog, where she writes about her experience at Dixie college. I also added her families blog too. Now you be good ya hear!

Jo Jo's Birthday
We had a wonderful time in Newman with my family for Jo Jo's birthday. The weather was perfect! Perfect enough for all of us to hang out on blankets in the backyard in between swimming in my parents new pool. The Bar-B-Q was great and the company even better. We were able to top off the day with Jo Jo's birthday and kind-of a belated birthday for Sherry too. And to make the day complete, we lit off
Rose Garden
Jen surprised me today after I got off of work and took me (and Kaylene also) to the Rose Garden for a dinner picnic. It was a wonderful day and since in the Northwest it doesn't get dark until 9:30 during the summer, we had plenty of time after the picnic to take many pictures of all the beautiful roses and scenery.
In Memory of Mary
Kinda of unexpected. My Aunt Mary has passed and she'll always be remembered as the one to have fun. So it's nice that because of her, we all were brought together. Thank you Aunty for all the fun times and especially for teaching me how to ride my bike many many years ago. We love you much. I didn't get many pictures, but go ahead and take a look at the ones I did.
Kaylene the Fish
While we were at Tiffany's in Orange County, we got the opportunity to take Kaylene swimming for the first time! We were pretty sure that she would like it since she loves bath time sooo much and our assumptions were confirmed. She loved it! She was so mesmorized by the water and kept looking down, we had a hard time getting her to look at the camera. She also loved to splash the water, even thought
Time with Tony
Let's just put it this way, on Tony's very first long haul on his own since he joined Swift, he was lucky enough to get stuck here, instead of somewhere else where he would have no friends or family around. No he didn't plan it that way, but it sure was nice having him around. I know Kaylene enjoyed having him around too, check out these pictures.
One Year...
Today is Cinco de Mayo and that means today marks the 1 year anniversary since Jen and I found out we were expecting! It seems like yesterday when Jen pulled me out of my Friday meeting to tell me the good news. What a ride it has been and continues to be, however it has been a wonderful ride and we have been blessed in many ways.By the way, check out these cool T-Shirts that my buddy Vince bought
Trip to San Jose just Because
Since we missed Nancy's birthday because our Airline Rewards wouldn't let us fly during that time, we decided to go down to San Jose on April 19th, just because we wanted to. We were there Thursday-Sunday and on Monday-Tuesday I had to work out of the San Jose office. When we arrived to Newman Thursday night, my parents had just gotten back from Arizona and found out that a storm had ripped one of
Christmas 2006
Jen and I were fortunate enough to spend Christmas 2006 with our families, mainly because we needed to attend the Noah Christmas Party in San Jose. After the company party, we went to Nancy's house for family portraits (read the funny and wacky blog about it here). We left Nancy's house on Christmas Eve and arrived to the cabin at 1:30 pm. Pfleghaar's Visit to the Couv
I must say I was surprised. Why? For 2 reasons. Firstly, Nancy called me around 9:00 pm and told me they were just passing Mt. Shasta in California. So Jen and I decided to spend some of the evening hanging pictures in our new home, since the walls seemed to be so barren. About 45-60 minutes later, the doorbell
