Easter 2010
Jen and I have been terribly busy since Peter arrived and also since we're in the process of moving back to California. But better now than never. This time both grandparents were here to enjoy the fun. So without further ado, here are the photos from Easter 2010.

Kaylene's First Bus Ride
More than a year ago, one of the very few words Kaylene learned to say was "bus". She always pointed them out everywhere we went. As her language improved, she would start to say that she wanted to go on the bus and I kept saying "We'll go on a bus someday, I promise". Well, that day finally came. My parents have been here visiting because of the new arrival of baby Peter, so I thought it was the perfect
Peter Comes Home
Peter was 5 weeks and 2 days early, so as soon as he was born, he went to the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). We asked them how long he would be there and they said 12-14 days. Well... he come home today, only being there for 8 days! We're are so blessed for answered prayers and blessings. It's so wonderful to have him home. We kept telling Kaylene that he was coming home and when she finally
Kaylene Visits a Fire Station
Kaylene has always been amazed and has loved fire trucks and fireman. So when Jen and I found out that the Church was having an activity (for kids that aren't in school yet) to visit a Fire Station, we knew we had to take Kaylene. And boy did she love it. We had been telling her and as soon as we entered the fire station garage, she gave out a really big "WOW" with a smile on her face that couldn't
Kaylene's first talk in Church
Kaylene transitioned from Nursery to Primary in the Sun Beams several weeks ago. A couple weeks ago she was given her first assignment in Church to give the scripture in Primary. We practiced at home and when it came time to give the scripture (Articles of Faith 1:1) she was really excited to do so. Take a look at the video.
Kaylene Meets Molly Video
Here's a cute video of Kaylene holding Molly for the first time. Without anyone telling her to do so, she just automatically started singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to Molly.
New Years 2010
We spent New Years at Jennifer's parents cabin, up by Yosemite. Kaylene particularly enjoyed herself amongst all the nature. Everyday we would go outside for a walk and on one particular walk, a dog kept following us around. We found out his name is "Buddy" and the owner told us that he loves to be part of everyones business, yet Kaylene really loved and even looked forward to having him with us on
Christmas Party with Kaylene's Friends
Kaylene was invited to a special Christmas party at one of her friends house. They had lunch with lots of yummy things to eat and even cupcakes for desert, which Kaylene got all over her face (it was hilarious, you'll see). They also had a special visitor drop by: Santa Claus! Kaylene talks about Santa Claus all the time, but everytime sees him, she's not exactly sure what to think. Fortunately no
To the Beach
Here is the video of Kaylene's first experience at the beach. She had fun while it lasted. Enjoy!
Roaring Camp and Beach
While spending time with Kaylene's Maminou and Papa, one day we decided to go to Santa Cruz. First stop was Roaring Camp, a family tradition and Kaylene had never been there. She really enjoyed all the Trains and Trees. Most everything was closed, but I think it was better that way because she doesn't care much for the shops and this way she was able to roam free and run everywhere. Too bad we couldn't
Kaylene's 3rd Birthday
This birthday for Kaylene was really her first that she could really enjoy. This time around, she knew what a birthday is and what to do with the presents and cake. She really had a blast and loved having all her friends over for her special occasion. Enjoy the pictures.
Kaylene's 3rd Birthday Video
Kaylene totally had a blast this year with her birthday. Check out the video, pictures are on the way.
Family Pics
One of Kaylene's friends decided to have a full blown formal "tea party" (all herbal teas) with fancy dress and all. So I decided to take some family pics beforehand. Which is your favorite?
Kaylene goes to Krispy Kreme
Kaylene really loves donuts lately, so we decided to take her to Krispy Kreme and show her how they're made!
The Bumble Bee Princess Video
Here's the video from Kaylene's Halloween adventure. She really enjoyed herself this Halloween.
Halloween 2009
This year Kaylene was (as Kaylene puts it) a "Bumble Bee Princess". Her cousin Amanda was nice enough to give her this costume from her last Halloween. Hours before trick or treating, I asked Kaylene "are you ready for your Halloween costume?" and immediately she said "no costume, no costume". However as soon as she saw WHAT a costume really is, she was super super excited and couldn't wait to get
Library and Park
Kaylene loves books, just like her Mommy, but the funny thing is that we had never taken her to the Library and probably on the account that we practically have one in our house already (from Jen's teaching). So we finally took the trip to the public library and Kaylene just loved it! She immediately fit in and had the problem of too much to look at. She would grab a book and quickly look at it and
So sad, no more binky's
Breaks my heart. I know every kid has difficulties with different things. Kaylene had no problems at all with no more bottles. But tonight we took away her biggest "vise", the pacifier (or as we call it, the binky). We put her to bed and after reading time and prayers, she politely asked "binky" and I had to break the news to her that there wouldn't be anymore "binky's" and immediately she was in tears.
Fun at the water park
Kaylene the Navigator
Everyday with Kaylene is something new. Just the other day while I was running some errands, we were on Interstate-5 and we were passing the exit that we usually take to go to the park, instantly she started crying "that way, that way" and pointing at the exit as we passed it. Later that day as we were driving home, Jen was craving Taco Bell (she's pregnant you know!) and we passed the exit we usually
Tree Hugger Spotted at Park
Kaylene has finally gotten over her tummy pains and as such is feeling much better. So we decided to have some fun at the park. The picture above was funny because she just ran over and out of nowhere decided to hug this tree, I guess she's just like her mother. Be sure to checkout the other photos by hitting up the slideshow link below. BTW, this is my first blog entry done entirely on my iPhone,
Cutie Pie
Just some pictures of Kaylene after getting her hair done by her Mama. Enjoy.
Dora Blanket from Cousin Alyssa
Kaylene received a special gift just the other day. She got a Dora blanket that her cousin Alyssa sewed herself. She loves it and likes to dance and play on it. Here she had just woken up (hence the messy hair) and was snuggling with the blanket while watching, guess what... Dora ofcourse! Thanks Alyssa for such a thoughtful gift and all the time it took you to assemble it.
Playing in the Backyard
Kaylene has really been enjoying this wonderful weather we have had recently. She has been especially enjoying her new playhouse our neighbor gave us and just playing in the backyard. So here are some pictures of Kaylene playing in the backyard. Enjoy!
Kaylene's Cute Curls
Kaylene was playing in the backyard just the other day and Jen had put her hair in "double piggies", which I love. So I busted out the camera and took some pictures of her with them dang cute curls!
Fun with Pop Rocks
Just the other day I was picking up some treats for Jen and I for a movie and I saw Pop Rocks on the shelf. Immediately an idea came into my head to film Kaylene eating her first Pop Rocks. So we did and it was pretty funny, take a look at the video above.
Fun with Bubbles!
Lately Kaylene has been really into bubbles. My parents and Jen's parents bought Kaylene bubble making machines that do lots of fun stuff with bubbles. I was amazed with the colors and reflection these new bubbles make and thought I would take some pictures.
Easter Hunt
As promised, here is the video from this Easter. As you'll see in the video, Kaylene starts out slow and then really gets the hang of it. Also, I've now shown this video to Kaylene and she loves it and keeps having me repeat it over and over and over!!! Enjoy.
Just Happy
Not much happening in these photos, just hanging out and enjoying some time with Mama and Dada. She also got a bubble machine from her Maminou and Papa (Jen's parents) and loves to play with the bubbles.
Cat in the Cart
Just for fun I thought it would be funny to see what would happen if I put Bijou in Kaylene's shopping cart? It's pretty funny to watch. Check out the video!
Kool Kaylene
Kaylene is always wanting to wear Mama's shades, so we went to the store and got a pair just for her (they were only 4 bucks). She likes to wear them all the time, especially in the car. So we went for a walk today and took some pictures of her wearing them really cool shades. Enjoy!
Kaylene Loves Jeopardy Theme Song
This is an older video that I just got around to publishing. I think the title says everything, but to add to what is said in the video, she doesn't behave like this with anything else and she even to this day gets excited when the final Jeopardy theme song comes on. It just means she's destine to be on Jeopardy someday!
My Valentine Girls
Our Valentines day was simple yet fun. I was with my girls and that is all that matters. As mentioned earlier, we went to build a bear workshop for Kaylene. Later on we went to Azteca mexican restaurant for some yummy din-din! I got a chance to take a few pictures before we left, take a look.
Kaylene Builds a Bear
Kaylene got a Build a Bear Workshop gift certificate from Grandma and Grandpa Wharff for her 2nd birthday. So we finally got a chance to go to the mall and have Kaylene build her very own teddy bear. We decided it would be fun to film this so Grandma and Grandpa (and everyone else) could watch this fun bear building event! Enjoy.

Unexpected Snowy Fun
To say the least, we have been deluged with unexpected snow here in Vancouver. Jen, Kaylene and I had originally scheduled to fly out to the bay area for the holidays, but our flight was cancelled. We're now waiting to try and get another flight before Christmas day, wish us luck. In the meantime Jen, Kaylene and I have had a wonderful time playing in the snow. Kaylene is just soooo excited and mesmerized
Kaylene's 2nd Birthday
This year we did a little bit more for Kaylene's birthday than we had the year before, she's starting to remember things now! Jen had just gotten home from the hospital so we didn't have too much time for planning, but all of Kaylene's neighborhood friends attended. We decorated the downstairs while Kaylene was taking her daily nap and when she awoke, she was sooo surprised by all the balloons and
Halloween 2008
We had hoped to make Kaylene a big "Green Bean" for halloween this year (as that is what Jen is always calling her) but since Jen had been in the hospital for almost 4 weeks with her "bile duct" issue, I had to take Kaylene out trick or treating without her Mom (Jen was pretty sad). Fortunately our neighbor had a halloween outfit from last year that she let us use. So she was a monkey. Kaylene had
Just Hanging Out
Here are some random pictures of Kaylene just hanging out around the house. I especially like the one above. Here she is so intently watching "Blue's Clues" that you can even seen "Steve" reflected in her eyes! Blue's clues is for sure her most favorite show so far. Make sure to check out the rest of the cute pics of her.
Kaylene is 18 Months
Not to take away from the seriousness of the situation with Tandy, but today Kaylene is 18 months old! Besides I know Tandy would want me to publish this anyway! Today she enjoyed playing in our backyard in the grass (she use to be afraid of the grass) and I had the opportunity to snap some cute shots of KK. It truly has been the most amazing, life changing and craziest 18 months of my life. I can
A Snowy Day in April
I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked outside and practically saw a blizzard outside. It was snowing so hard that I couldn't see the houses down the street. It only last maybe 30 minutes and then about an hour later, the sun came out and it was almost warm, so much so that all the streets started to get all steamy. Talk about global warming or can you say "the last days" 10 times really quick? It
Kaylene finally triumphs over the couch
She's been working on it for months and today Kaylene was finally victorious over climbing onto the couch. Soon she'll be climbing the book shelves and jumping out of the bath tub! We'll be keeping an eye on her.
A Day at the Park
Today was amazingly beuatiful weather here in the Northwest. Jen thought that since Kaylene is a little older now and can walk and understand things more now, that we should take her to the park. What can I say but a "pictures says a thousand words". You can see how much she loved it. This wasn't her first time to the park (that was in Newman almost a year ago), but was her first time in a swing.
Easter Gifts from Auntie Sherry
My Sister Sherry does a pretty good job of making sure Kaylene is spoiled with lots of fun toys, clothes and all kinds of stuff. Even Jen was having fun when she saw the toy rotary phone on wheels. Her exact words "I loved these when I was a kid" and now is one of Kaylene's favorites too. She loves holding the string and dragging it all over the house. She also got us this totally cool duffle bag with
Maminou Song
Video takes 20-30 seconds to buffer.Maminou (Grandma Childs) sings a french song to Kaylene that she loves. Although Jen is the one singing this song to Kaylene, this originally started with Maminou singing it to her and she loves it.
Sick Kaylene
Kaylene very suddenly came down with a pretty bad cold with lots of congestion and coughing. We don't think she got what Jen and I had since neither of us ever had a temperature (hopefully she didn't get it from the Carousel ride!) and Kaylene's temp was 102! She's steadily getting better, but I must say that one of the benefits of her being sick is she really likes to cuddle!
Kaylene's First Carousel Ride
Today we took Kaylene to the mall for her very first Carousel ride. How did she like it? Well from what I've heard... her reaction was quite typical: scared! She was doing fine until the ride actually started to move and then she started to cry something fierce, but fortunately for her it was over pretty quickly. Oh well, at least we got pictures and video to document the event!
Just Having Fun
Just a quick set of some cute photos of Kaylene playing around the house.
First Step Pictures
Pictures of Kaylene's first steps are now online. If you haven't found out already and watched the video, Kaylene took her first steps on Saturday. So check out them pics!
Kaylene's First Steps
Kaylene has slowly been showing signs of walking lately. Usually she's has been taking daring steps from one couch to the other. So we decided to bust out the camera and see if should would dare to try and walk. Check out the video to find out!
Kaylene Conquers the Stairs!!!
Rather than keep Kaylene away from the apparent dangers of the stairs, over the past weeks I've been slowly helping and supervising her play on the stairs. At first, she could only lean on the first step and then slowly she would make her way up the first or second step, but she didn't quite have it down. Most of the time she would just lose her balance and start to fall. Ofcourse I was there to catch
Church Dress
I thought I would post this real quick. Here are 4 photo's of the dress that Kaylene got for her birthday from Grandma Jackie. We dressed her up all pretty in this for Church one Sunday. It's still a little big on her, but we got lots of comments on how cute she was. Check'em out!
Kaylene 1 Year Portraits
Since many of you know that my new found hobby is Photography, I thought I would take Kaylene's first portraits. We actually transformed our front room into a temporary studio. As many of you may know, Kaylene is very active and squirmy as many baby's are this age and so it was very difficult to get the right shots. We took over 200, most of them burst shots of 10 within a few seconds, so it's not
Kaylene's 1st Birthday!!!
The picture above was taken exactly at 3:31 PM. Why the exact timing? Well, this, made her exactly 1 year old, down to the minute! Kaylene Jennifer Wharff was welcomed into this world exactly one year ago today. I cannot believe how fast the time has flown! It seems like it was just yesterday that we found out that we were pregnant, and expecting our little miracle! Little she was, weighing in at only
Kaylene's First Halloween
This Halloween was Kaylene's first. Jen found a very cute outfit of a kitty kat! The night before we went to the annual Halloween bash at the church where all the kids were dressed up and got to "trunk" or treat. Yes I said trunk, it's where all the kids at the church get to go from each car, truck or SUV trunks and get treats. At the same time was the Chili cook-off. I got to try several kinds of
Kaylene Says Her First Word!
At 8:40 PM today, Kaylene said her very first word: "Da-Dee". Here's how it happened: Kaylene was sitting on Mommy's lap and Jen pointed to me and said while Kaylene was looking at me: "Is that your Daddy?" and she immediately responded with "Da-Dee". She continued to say it 4 more times, so I grabbed the camera and of-course she was distracted by the camcorder that she didn't say it again. Anyway,
Kaylene the Fish
While we were at Tiffany's in Orange County, we got the opportunity to take Kaylene swimming for the first time! We were pretty sure that she would like it since she loves bath time sooo much and our assumptions were confirmed. She loved it! She was so mesmorized by the water and kept looking down, we had a hard time getting her to look at the camera. She also loved to splash the water, even thought
Kaylene's First Giggles
We were fortunate enough to actually capture Kaylene's first giggles on film. It's a good thing I had the day off! ;)
Very Vocal
Kaylene being Very Vocal. Pretty dang cute I must say, but I'm biased.
Spoon Fed on Tape
Kaylene's first real food. The video is very large, so be patient while it's downloading.
Kaylene with Daddy
Just some personal one on one time with Kaylene.
Talk to Daddy (Well Almost)
We thought she's was trying to say "Hello". You can faintly hear it. Probably just coincidence!
Sleepy Dad |||amp; Kaylene
Jen caught us both sleeping. You gotta love cuddle time with da baby!
Almost Giggles
We thought these were her very first giggles, but later on we finally did catch her first giggles on video.
Growler
She had been making this funny noise lately and we finally caught it on video. It's pretty darn funny, it sounds like she's growling!
Nivea Baby
Guess who got their "hand stuck in the cookie jar", only this time it wasn't cookies! Pretty funny.
Cranky but darn Cute
She was just barely over 3 months in this video and at first she was making some cute noises, so we starting filming, but she ended up being cranky but cute!
Time with Tony
Let's just put it this way, on Tony's very first long haul on his own since he joined Swift, he was lucky enough to get stuck here, instead of somewhere else where he would have no friends or family around. No he didn't plan it that way, but it sure was nice having him around. I know Kaylene enjoyed having him around too, check out these pictures.
Papa and KK
One of the benefits of having Dad here for a couple weeks is how much wonderful time he got to spend with Kaylene. She definitely has a special bond with Papa. Check out the Pictures.
Spoon Fed
We started to finally feed this kid some real food! It's been pretty fun and funny to watch all her expressions with this newly found ability. Sometimes she'll make a sour-puss face, but then a second later she's squawking for more. You gotta take a look at the rest of the pictures, they're super funny and cute!Pictures
One Year...
Today is Cinco de Mayo and that means today marks the 1 year anniversary since Jen and I found out we were expecting! It seems like yesterday when Jen pulled me out of my Friday meeting to tell me the good news. What a ride it has been and continues to be, however it has been a wonderful ride and we have been blessed in many ways.By the way, check out these cool T-Shirts that my buddy Vince bought
To the Farmers Market we go!
Jen took Kaylene to the Farmers Market with Tandy for the first time. Jen wanted to make sure she was cute enough for such an outing. She dressed her in a new outfit, so I took some pictures before their grand departure. Check it out!
Kaylene's First Day at the Park
They built a new park by my parents house in Newman and it is very nice and large. We decided that after the birthday party we would go play, hang out and hit a couple balls at the park. This is Kaylene's very first time at a park and although she won't remember it, we got plenty of pictures to record this fun moment of hers. Be sure to check out the cool motion shots I got of Jo-Jo at bat (ball
Perfect Tuesday
Today is Tuesday and it was perfect! Why? Because the whole day just seam to go ... well ... perfectly. My day at work was perfect, I was able to get lot's of work done and one of our weekly meetings was cancelled (not that I don't like those meetings or anything =) ). I also found out that I am getting a refund on my taxes and that's always nice, thanks Kaylene for being born; although we would keep

Kaylene's Baby Blessing
We had a fabulous time traveling to San Jose for Kaylene’s blessing! It was a great week filled with visits with friends and family, and most importantly, for the blessing. The three of us flew in on Thursday afternoon, and made our way to my mom’s house. It was really great for the grandparents to see Kaylene again. They had so much fun all week holding and cuddling her. She was really

My thoughts on Baby Kaylene

Really I can't say much about being a father, since I've only been one for 6 weeks now, but I can tell you my thoughts on our new little precious baby Kaylene. I can sum it up with this: "Change", but ending it there wouldn't be any fun!!! How about I start out with this: She's thrown-up in my mouth, shot poop on me (and I really mean "shot"), managed to squirt me with her pee and kept us pretty tired.

How I found out I was Pregnant
Cinco de Mayo! What a memorable day this would turn out to be. I had absolutely no idea that I was going to have some of the best and biggest news of my life delivered to me today. To accurately tell this story, I need to go back two or so weeks. I was standing in the family room, asking Paul a question, when he mentioned to me that my body had started to look "different" lately. I thought he was just
